OASBO Board of Directors


Applications are now being accepted for the 2021-2022 OASBO Board of Directors. Apply for one of the open positions by January 15, 2021.

This opportunity puts you on the front lines of uniting the school business profession to empower all OASBO members. As a member of the board, you will help guide OASBO’s programming to help advance the profession.

Open positions

Vice President
1-year term, then will go through the chairs of president-elect (1-year term), president (1-year term), and past president (1-year term)

Secretary/Treasurer
2-year term

Northeast Regional Director
3-year term

Southeast Regional Director
3-year term

At-Large Director (Liason to Food & Nutrition)
Unexpired term ending June 30, 2022


Criteria for Officers (Vice President)
Officers shall demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis placed on the following:
  • Professional member of OASBO for a minimum of 3 years, and;
Served either:
  • One term as a chapter officer; or
  • One term in an OASBO leadership position, e.g. regional director, committee chair, seminar director or other OASBO leadership service.

Criteria for Directors
Criteria similar to that for the Vice President position is preferred for director seats, but not required. Associate members can apply for a position on the Board of Directors, however, he/she must become a professional member upon election and remain a professional member while holding office​

Responsibilities: 
Read the responsibilities of all positions in Article V of the OASBO Constitution.

Application and Selection Process For Vice President and Regional Director Positions
  • Complete an application and submit it prior to January 15.
  • Be available for a phone interview January/February with the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee consists of the immediate past president, president-elect, 2 past presidents, and an at-large professional member.
  • The committee then selects a slate of candidates for all open positions and introduces them to the membership in the March issue of the SBO Quarterly magazine, then presents them for a vote (of Professional members) at the Annual Conference in April.
  • Additional nominations for any open seat may be made from the floor of the meeting, and the candidates receiving a majority vote shall be declared elected and will begin their terms July 1, 2021.

Application & Selection Process for the At-Large Director Position
  • Complete an application and submit it prior to January 15.
  • Applicants will be screened by the Executive Committee and those selected will be interviewed by the Executive Committee via a conference call. The Executive Committee consists of the immediate past president, president, president-elect, vice-president and secretary/treasurer.
  • The committee then selects a candidate for recommendation to the full Board of Directors to serve until June 30, 2021.  This candidate will begin serving February 1, 2021.
  • Applications submitted to fill this vacancy will serve until their successor is elected at the OASBO Annual Conference & Expo in April 2021.  
  • All applications for the At-Large Director position will be submitted to the nominating committee for consideration for the election to be held at the OASBO Annual Conference & Expo in April 2021 for the remainder of term expiring on June 30, 2022.
