Multiple School Safety Grant Opportunities

School Safety Training Grant
The Ohio Attorney General’s FY23 School Safety Grant (SSG Grant) is for $2500 or $5.50 per student, whichever amount is greater. Funding can be used for school safety and security efforts including but not limited to:
- The support of school resource officer certification training;
- Any type of active shooter and school safety training or equipment;
- All grade level type educational resources;
- Training to identify and assist students with mental health issues;
- School supplies or equipment related to school safety or for implementing the school’s safety plan**;
- Any other training related to school safety. A budget form is not required. Unspent funds are required to be returned by the final report date.
Eligible Applicants: County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Educational Service Center/District, Other, School, STEM School, Chartered Non-Public Schools, Community School, Traditional Public School.

Application start date is January 12, 2023, and end date is March 31, 2023. For this grant, only the district is eligible to apply.

Innovation Grant
Ohio Attorney General’s School/Law Enforcement Technology Linking Safety Grant, also known as the Innovation Grant, is for up to $20,000 per district.
Projects should be designed to encourage a lifesaving and crime prevention link through technology to law enforcement agencies and officers. Funding could be used for the following:
- Technology for crisis response (e.g. immediate camera access during a shooting for law enforcement, silent panic alarms, shot detection technology, etc.)
- Technology designed to alert law enforcement of potential safety breeches on school property (e.g. license Plate Reader alerts for registered sex offender vehicles in proximity to an elementary school, protection order alerts, wanted dangerous person alerts, etc.)
Eligible Applicants: County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Other, School, STEM School, Chartered Non-Public Schools, Traditional Public School.

Stronger Connections Grant
The Stronger Connections Grant is a supplement to the Title IV, Part A, Student Support and Academic Enrichment program. Local Education Agencies (LEAs) that meet specific criteria indicating they are “high need” for school health and safety will receive these funds through a competitive grant.
The Stronger Connections Grant competitive application will be available to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) on March 1. The competitive application will close April 1 at 11:59 p.m.
