Public Policy and Education
Representing Ohio's school business professionals, OASBO focuses its advocacy efforts on the resources necessary to educate students. Positions on issues related to curriculum and student needs depend heavily on the state's system of funding. We must advocate for the appropriate resources needed to achieve the standards and criteria set forth for all students.
OASBO provides advocacy tools and helps guide members through the legislative process; encouraging legislative involvement. Developed from the grassroots up, our legislative platform reflects the needs of school districts across the state; always with the best interest of the student in mind. Our platform is a guide as we take positions on legislation and advocate for change. School business officials can rely on OASBO to help them become advocates at the local level.
OASBO set the following priorities that drive its advocacy agenda:
Upcoming ODE Deadlines
Tax budget (or alternate form) due to County Auditor.
Special education catastophic costs due to finance regional office.
Pupil transportation ridership report amendments due to the ODE office of pupil transportation.
ESC Boards must hold their organizational meetings by this date.
W-2 and tax statements due to past and present employees.
