Rowan Named OASBO Executive Director
James M. Rowan was named OASBO’s sixth Executive Director by the organization’s Board of Directors on Sept. 8. A long-time OASBO member, Rowan served as the association's President during the 2002-03 membership year, and as ASBO International President in 2007.Jim's passion for, and commitment to, Ohio's school business officials began in 1987, when he took a position at the Auditor of State (AOS) after he left the U.S. Navy. After five years at the AOS, Jim began his long career as a school district treasurer, serving at Fairbanks Local, Talawanda, and Fairfield City school districts before joining the Hylant Group in 2007 as Director of Programs.
Jim jumped back into public finance in 2010, as the Treasurer/CFO of Princeton City Schools. He has served as the Fiscal Officer for Oxford Township since 2007. In 2012, he was named the CEO/Administrator of Colerain Township, where he has been responsible for the day-to-day operations and managerial oversight for the Township for nearly five years.
During the past four months, OASBO staff has continued to operate with confidence and excellence, and the Board and Search Committee thank them for their commitment to the association. A special thank you to Interim Executive Director Barbara Shaner for her tireless work during the transition.
