Every Student Succeeds Act
Under the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Ohio will create a plan for how our local, state and federal programs are aligned to help all of our students be successful.
OASBO has joined with a group of statewide education organizations to learn more about what is expected through ESSA and to collectively weigh in as the Ohio Department of Education develops Ohio’s plan. Our organizations strongly support the use of the new plan for implementation of ESSA as an opportunity for Ohio to step back and consider our current education system holistically and to determine changes would improve local flexibility and also enhance educational opportunities for students.
The new federal law requires that ODE engage in discussions with stakeholders in a significant way as the plan is developed. There are a number of opportunities for members to participate in discussions about the plan.
OASBO, OSBA, BASA, OAESA, OASSA, Ohio PTA, OFT, and OEA have developed a white paper that highlights 5 areas where we all have common ground. Click here for a copy.
