Ryan Stechschulte is the Treasurer/CFO of Toledo Public Schools – the 4th largest school district in Ohio. Though in this role since 2015, he has been a school business official for over 25 years. During Ryan’s career, he has successfully provided financial and operational leadership in 5 different districts as both their Treasurer/CFO and Business Manager. He has an associate degree in accounting from the University of Toledo and a bachelor’s in organizational management from Bluffton University. As a past president of Ohio ASBO, having served as Board President in 2016, Ryan continues to show his passion for preparing current and future leaders for school business official roles. He frequently shares his expertise in forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning through local, regional and national professional development seminars and conferences. He also actively mentors candidates for their Ohio treasurer license. Ryan has received Ohio ASBO’s Northwest Region Distinguished Service Award, the Virginia Ramsey Award, and the Ohio Auditor of State’s Award of Distinction. At the international level, Ryan has been an ASBO International member since 2002 and currently serves on the ASBO Legislative Advisory Committee and as a Director on the ASBO International Board of Directors since 2020. In 2016, Ryan was selected to represent ASBO in Washington, D.C. in discussions with the Internal Revenue Service on improvements to the implementation procedures for the Affordable Healthcare Act. Throughout his tenure as Treasurer/CFO of Toledo Public Schools, Ryan has received ASBO’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.
