Madison Reid is an 11-year-old seventh grade honor scholar of Wade Park School in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Madison excels in her academics; she not only skipped the fourth grade, but she is currently aspiring towards her Associate Degree. She is the youngest student in her seventh/eighth grade honor classes. Madison's goals and aspirations are to pursue degrees from both Harvard and Howard University. She plans to utilize her degrees as a Veterinarian, who operate her own Veterinarian Clinic, focusing on domestic animals, specializing in cats.
Madison is an avid reader who also enjoys writing her own stories and poetry. She has a compilation of memoirs that she hopes to have published soon. Her passion and enthusiasm for reading has made her a powerful spokesperson for Literacy, the Little Free Library and the Literacy Cooperative of Cleveland. As a Summer Reading Correspondent for WKYC, Channel 3 Cleveland, she promoted reading and literacy throughout Northeast Ohio Libraries. Madison became an instant celebrity in 2014 when she was interviewed by WKYC, Channel 3 and the video of the interview went viral. “The World Needs Books” is her hash tag that has the internet on fire. Madison continues to inspire young and old to read for the love of reading.
