Essentials Courses Summer Bootcamp in July

This July, OASBO will be holding its annual Bootcamp with all five of our Essentials courses offered back-to-back over a two week period. These courses have been designed for those seeking their treasurer's license through OASBO's ODE Approved Pathway, or currently licensed treasurers/CFOs wanting a refresher. 

Each course must be registered for separately, and seats are limited. You may choose to attend one or all five courses. Fees for each seminar includes the cost the Official Curriculum Guide/Manual for each course. There will be 26 seats available to attend the bootcamp in-person, and unlimited spots available to attend virtually. 

To receive a hard copy of the manuals, please register by Wednesday, June 30. If you register after that date you will receive digital copies.

Cost: In Person Option - Member $240 / Non-Member $480 --- Virtual Option - Member: $220 / Non-Member $460

July 12-13 - Essentials of Business Operations
A course in business operations for those seeking their business manager or treasurer's license, or those school business professionals wanting information in the areas of risk management, school safety & security, IT security, facilities utilization, inventory and fixed assets, bidding, contracts, 412 certificate, school facilities and construction, transportation, food and nutrition.

July 14-15 - Essentials of Financial Management & Administration
A course that provides comprehensive content in the areas of history and evolution of school districts, roles and relationships, governing laws and regulations, Board and negotiations, fund accounting, USAS coding, student activities and booster groups, purchasing, proper purpose, credit cards, and investments.

July 16 & 19 - Essentials of School Funding & Finance
This course provides a survey of the skills needed by a CFO/COO when involved with the formulas and systems for public financing of education. Participants will review state and local sources of funds, the methods and responsibilities of managing local, state, and federal revenues, and the impact of the state data processing system (EMIS) on the district's state funds.

July 20-21 - Essentials of Budgeting & Forecasting
This course provides comprehensive content in the following areas: budget development; revenue and expenditure cash flow; forecasting and forecasting assumptions and content on the ASBO International’s Meritorious Budget Award Program.

July 22-23 - Essentials of Human Resources
A course in human resources for all types of business officials, including: business managers/business operations professionals, food service supervisors/directors, transportation supervisors/directors, and treasurers/CFOs.  The course will provide comprehensive content in the areas of hiring, compensation, employment laws, leave provisions, performance review, incentive pay, discipline, and separation from employment.
